Comensura’s impressive growth is the result of consistent success over a number of years. Here is a brief look back at our highlights:
2000 - 2001
Comensura is formed as a start up venture by the Corporate Services Group as an alternative to traditional ‘master vendor’ or preferred supplier staffing management models.
Comensura’s vendor neutral model looks to streamline staff acquisition processes, reduce client costs, mitigate risks, deliver 100% fulfilment and provide visibility and control of client expenditure on temporary and interim staffing.
2002
2003
2004 – 2005
Seven new private and public sector contracts are awarded to Comensura, with a combined contract value of c£85m.
The Government’s Gershon Efficiency Review identifies temporary staffing as a key target for ‘same for less’ savings delivery and local government interest rapidly grows in the Comensura model.
2006
Comensura wins contracts with 15 new clients equating to £81m in new spend under management, including the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA), ten collaborative local authorities in the North West of England.
Comensura’s Australian operation opens in Sydney.
An enhanced safeguarding programme is developed in partnership with London Borough of Southwark in response to the Bichard Enquiry.
2007
Comensura extends its service offering for a private sector client to cover the Netherlands.
A new management team is introduced following a company restructure.
New client wins totalling £50m of client spend take total spend under management to c£270m. This includes the first national public vendor neutral contract let by the buying organisation ESPO.
2008
The City of London re-tenders and Comensura is once again awarded the contract. Further new contract wins amount to a combined £40m in client spend.
AGMA is awarded the 4ps procurement excellence award for its staffing contract with Comensura.
Comensura support a pan-London public authority project, the ‘Electronic Knowledge Exchange’, facilitating the export of pay rate information into a central client database.
Comensura Australia wins its first contract and opens new offices in Melbourne.
2009
A £30m framework contract is awarded to Comensura by the North East Purchasing Organisation.
Comensura is awarded collaborative public authority London Contracts and Supplies Group (LCSG) contract, led by London Borough of Hounslow in conjunction with the DCSF (now the Department for Education). Working in consultation with the DCSF, Comensura develops a specialist education management system, Comensura Education, designed to streamline and manage the placement of supply teachers into schools and educational establishments.
New strategic initiatives are agreed with clients, including a major workforce planning and demand management project and the ability for clients to access our technology via mobile phones.
Comensura Australia awarded a place on a framework contract with the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV).
2010
In anticipation of and following the austerity measures introduced by the incoming coalition government, several clients implement demand management and workforce planning initiatives, resulting in a significant scaling back of temporary worker usage.
Comensura is appointed as sole supplier to the first vendor neutral framework contract available for NHS bodies to access.
2011
Comensura is appointed to the Managed Service for Temporary Agency Resources (MSTAR) national framework with the highest cumulative score for quality in the three lots entered.
New client wins totalling £60m during the year, including a major hotel group as private sector interest in Comensura’s model continues to grow.
Comensura Australia wins three new clients via the MAV framework.
2012
Comensura wins £87m in new contracts. A large number of Comensura's existing public sector client base are obliged to re-tender their requirements and a majority use the
MSTAR national framework. In this framework Comensura successfully retain the highest proportion of clients by volume and continue to win the largest share of overall new business.
